Weldbond Adhesive
Weldbond Adhesive

We have not been able to personally test every last one of Weldbond's claims, but our store customers tell us it's "the BEST glue EVAH!". (Our store customers have Boston accents.) They tell us it's especially great for mosaics.

According to Weldbond: "This glue is non-flammable, non-toxic & dries clear. It can also be used as a primer for porous surfaces. It is highly water-resistant and impervious to petroleum, oil, grease, salt, moulds and fungi, alkali's, and weak acids. Weldbond withstands all climatic conditions after curing. It is non-staining and will not become brittle with age. Weldbond is also used by Nasa for Escape Suites on space shuttle flights." (What does that even mean? Escape Suites?)

When soldering around a mirror, it's a good idea to protect the mirror from the flux, because flux is corrosive. Gunther Seal-Kwik protects mirror edges from "black edge", "creeping crud", or whatever you choose to call it. Unlike spray sealant, Seal-Kwik goes on fast and easy with a sponge-dauber top, with no running, spilling or wasteful overspray. Seal-Kwik dries clear, and will not yellow or crack with age. Just a 4-ounce bottle goes a long way towards solving your creeping crud issues.

Has this ever happened to you? You draw a guideline on your glass with a marker, but when you start to grind or saw along that line, the water washes it away! Mark Stay solves this problem. A thin film of non-toxic Mark Stay preserves the line, yet doesn't clog the grinding head. Washes off with soap and water.

Comes in a small (1 oz.) jar.
Sticky Stuff
Bard's Tacky Wax
Bard's Tacky Wax

This sticky wax works well for holding mosaic glass pieces in place over a pattern prior to application of contact paper, or for holding mosaic pieces in a stepping stone prior to pouring your cement. Also can be used for sticking patterns to glass, or sticking patterns to lamp forms, or sticking anything to anything else in a temporary way. The mind reels.

Con-Tact Clear Self-Adhesive Paper
Con-Tact Clear Self-Adhesive Paper

One of the myriad ways to use Con-Tact paper is to to coat the back of your stained glass pattern before cutting it. The Con-Tact paper gives your pattern extra strength to withstand multiple use. If you're one of those people who grind glass with the pattern attached, this helps the pattern survive, to some degree.

Con-Tact paper can also be cut into shapes and used as a stencil, with paint on any flat surface, or with Armour Etching Cream in order to etch clear glass.

Another use is place it, sticky side up, at the bottom of your coaster mold, and then set your mosaic pieces on it. The Con-Tact paper will hold your pieces in place while you pour your cement over them. (This is a theoretical use. We tried it with stepping stone molds and it didn't work so well. Your mileage may vary.)
