Lead Working Tools

This lead knife features a comfortable handle, a long-lasting stainless steel blade that retains its edge, and a weighted metal butt end for tapping stop blocks or nails into place as you cut and assemble your lead panel. It is designed for safety, in that your hand cannot slip onto the blade. The curved blade allows you to cut using a gentle rocking motion, which helps you avoid crimping the lead came. All in all, a solid and capable tool for lead work.

Every really swift leaded glass person is well aware of the requirement for a nail which will hold glass in place (on the work board) without chipping it, be easily removable, attractive, modest, and have just enough charisma to prevent the Cleaning Lady from throwing it out. Horseshoe nails have been used in leaded glass work for centuries. Our Horseshoe Nails are functional and recyclable to boot. (One can double as a cribbage peg, a hors d'oeuvre pick, or can be made into a finger ring for your high school sweetheart.) 2-3/16" long.
